Steve M. Shirley, MD, FACS
Dr. Shirley is a Franklin County native. He graduated form the University of Georgia and Medical College of Georgia. He did both his internship and residency at Medical College of Georgia from 1980 to 1985. After spending 1 year in Elberton, GA., he relocated to Athens and has been in practice here for the past 20 years. Dr. Shirley is Board Certified by the America Board of Surgery. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, the Crawford Long Medical Society, the Georgia Surgical Society and the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He is married with one daughter and two sons.
Rembert M. McElhannon, MD., FACS
Dr. McElhannon is a Athens native. He graduated from the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. He did his internship at the Unit of Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN., from 1982 to 1987. He opened his practice in July 1987. He joined with Dr. Shirley in January 1999. Dr. McElhannon is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, the Crawford Long Medical Society, the Georgia Surgical Society and the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He is married with one son and two daughters.
